
Meat Inspection License for Custom Operators
A custom exempt license allows an establishment to harvest and/or process red meat and/or poultry that will be returned to the owner. Meat and poultry products prepared under the custom exemption are exclusively for use in the household of the owner, by him, members of his household, non-paying guests, and employees.
A custom exempt facility must comply with the sanitation requirements in 9 CFR 416 along with humane animal handling regulations, and can only produce product that is labeled not for sale. Product produced under a custom exemption must be kept separate from product for sale.
Who Needs This License
Red meat and poultry operators who meet the requirements set forth in Ohio Revised Code 918.
Licensing Period
An establishments license expires each year on March 31st.
