The Administration section of the Ohio Department of Agriculture is overseen by the Director's office. The various offices assist all other agency divisions and programs with legislative, communications, legal, financial, IT and personnel support.
The Ohio Division of Amusement Ride Safety and Fairs works to inspect and license all amusement rides before they operate to verify that rides are assembled, maintained, and operated to manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations.
Sanitary inspections and sampling are at the heart of the Dairy Division's functions that lead to a safe and wholesome supply of dairy products produced and processed in Ohio. The Dairy Division has regulatory oversight relative to milk producers, milk haulers and dairy processors.
The Division of Food Safety helps assure consumers are provided foods, over-the-counter drugs, dietary supplements and cosmetics that are safe, unadulterated and honestly presented. Division staff members work toward this goal through regulatory oversight of the wholesale and retail industry and through contracts, partnerships and educational activities with federal, state and local food regulatory agencies.
The Hemp Program was created at the signing of Senate Bill 57 which decriminalized hemp in Ohio and paved the way for the development of a new industry in our state. The USDA recently approved the State of Ohio's hemp program. It is legal to grow and process hemp in Ohio, but growers and processors must be licensed.

The Division of Livestock Environmental Permitting is responsible for regulating how Ohio's largest livestock and poultry farms handle manure and wastewater, as well as manage flies, rodents, and other pests. The Division issues permits to construct, modify, and operate large and major Concentrated Animal Feeding Facilities (CAFFs) in Ohio. The Division also administers the Certified Livestock Manager (CLM) program.

The Division of Meat Inspection is charged with verifying that each state inspected meat and poultry establishment produces safe, wholesome, and properly labeled products in a sanitary environment. DMI Staff is responsible for regulating 260 meat and poultry establishments statewide.
The Division of Plant Health houses the Apiary, Grain Warehouse, Feed & Seed, Pesticide & Fertilizer Regulation, and Plant Pest Control sections, and hold businesses which produce, process, and distribute plant-based agricultural products to high standards of integrity and safety.
The Division of Soil and Water Conservation (DSWC) provides leadership and services that enable Ohioans to conserve, protect, and enhance soil, water, and land resources. The DSWC was established beginning January 2016 through a transfer of programs from the Department of Natural Resources to the Department of Agriculture.
The Division of Weights and Measures works with county and city weights and measures programs to test devices ranging from fuel meters and retail store scanners to vehicle and livestock scales for consistent measuring standards. Ohio administers one of only four National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) laboratories in the nation, which tests and evaluates new scale designs and technology.
