Instructions for Non-Resident Applicants or Applicants Applying for Reciprocity

There are some additional requirements and instructions for non-resident applicants or applicants applying for reciprocity
1. WAIVER OF APPRENTICESHIP AND EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR NONRESIDENT/RESIDENT APPLICANTS WHO ARE LICENSED IN A RECIPROCAL STATE.
At present, the states with which Ohio has reciprocity include: ARKANSAS, ALABAMA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, INDIANA, ILLINOIS, KENTUCKY, LOUISIANA, MISSISSIPPI, NORTH CAROLINA, PENNSYLVANIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, TENNESEE, TEXAS, VIRGINIA, AND WEST VIRIGINIA. In addition to the regular application and a $25,000 bond, you must file the following forms and proofs:
a. Letter of certificate of auctioneer license from your state licensing agency verifying one year experience, either as an auctioneer or apprentice auctioneer. Certification must include verification of good standing in the reciprocal state.
b. If you are a resident of Ohio applying via reciprocity: you must provide a letter of good standing from a reciprocal state showing license in good standing for a period of two years and proof of the conduct of at least twelve auctions in the reciprocal state. The proof may be in the form of advertisements or sale bills that include your name as auctioneer. (ORC 4707.07 (D); 4707.12; 4707.13)
2. APPLICATION FOR A ONE AUCTION LICENSE FOR A NON-RESIDENT
If you are a non-resident applicant and do not have a license in a state that Ohio has a reciprocal agreement, you may apply for a one time license. In addition to the regular application and a $50,000 bond, you must file the following forms and proofs:
a. Proof, to the satisfaction of the Division of having personally conducted at least twelve auction sales within a two-year period immediately preceding application.
b. Such proof may be in the form of sale bills, advertising contracts or other written or printed documents pertaining to such sales. (ORC 4707.072; 4707.13)
